ROVOP announces new charity partner

ROVOP is delighted to announce it has chosen Charlie House to be its charity partner for 2025.

Following a successful campaign of fundraising in 2024, which saw ROVOP raise more than £10,000 for cancer charity Maggie’s Aberdeen, the team will continue their efforts in 2025 with our employee nominated cause, Charlie House.

Founded in 2011, Charlie House supports babies, children and young people in the north-east of Scotland living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

Its work includes transitioning from hospital to home, emotional support for individuals and families, access to inclusive activities and bereavement support. They currently support over 140 families across the north east.

Shellie Stewart, Executive Assistant & Fundraising Manager at ROVOP, who also leads the company’s CSR initiatives said: “When it came time to choose our 2025 charity partner, our team overwhelmingly nominated Charlie House because of the incredible work they do, providing vital services to children and families in our community, who may not otherwise receive it.”

Earlier this month, Shellie visited Charlie House’s facilities in Aberdeen, meeting with Louise and Katie, Community and Events fundraisers, who welcomed her with a tour of the facilities as well as getting her up to speed with the charity recent activities.

One of Charlie House’s major projects is its Big Build Appeal. Despite there being 48 specialist centres in the UK, only two of them are in Scotland; with the nearest one for the children Charlie House supports, currently over 100 miles south of Aberdeen, in Kinross.

Charlie House launched the Big Build Appeal in 2018 to raise £8m to build a dedicated support centre in Aberdeen, so families across the north east don’t need to make the arduous journey to receive vital support.

The centre would be situated in the ground of Woodend Hospital Aberdeen beside the Den of Maidencraig, with eight children’s bedrooms and eight family suites. The bedrooms will be fully accessible, equipped with tracking hoists and adjustable beds.

It will also include a hydrotherapy pool, a sensory room, a teenage den, a craft room and a garden. These facilities will ensure children of all ages and abilities will be catered for.

Shellie added: “The Big Build Appeal will make specialist support far more accessible for children across the north-east who urgently need it. We’re excited to see what fun and inventive things the staff at ROVOP can come up with this year to raise as much money as possible, as well as taking part in our usual fundraising activities including the Beast Race, Kilt Walk, annual golf day and Santa Run.”
